What you'll learn in this media composer training:

Media Composer 101 is an introductory course designed to get a new user up-and-running on the software. In this course, students develop an understanding of the video editing process and the basic skills to edit a video project from start to finish.

This includes understanding the relationship between media and project files, media storage location, the abilities to create the project file; bring in the source video and audio files; edit the sequence, add titles, music, and basic effects, and then export the finished sequence.

Identify and understand the function of the primary Media Composer tools and windows
Create/open a project using standard SD and HD formats
Add basic effects and transition effects to the sequence
Use automatic color correction to improve the appearance of video clips
Adjust basic settings relating the media creation and user preferences
Export the finished sequence as a high-quality video file, or for uploading to the web

Who Should Attend
Beginning editors or any editors looking to sharpen their skills with Avid Media Composer. Assistant Editors, Producers, Directors, and anyone else interested in learning the basics of the industry's leading NLE.

Prerequisites:
Mac and/or Windows OS experience and a background in editing, production, or post-production is recommended but not necessary.

Moviola Education Center reserves the right to cancel any course at anytime for any reason, however, cancellations are usually made no less than 72 hours prior to the course start date. In the event of a cancellation by Moviola Education Center, students have the option of being rescheduled for another course date or receiving a full refund.

Students may cancel their enrollment in any course by providing notice to CourseHorse no less than 72 hours prior to the start time of the class. Any cancellation received less than 72 hours prior to the start time of the class will result in the student being charged a $150 late cancellation fee. "No-shows" will be charged the full published rate for the course and will receive no refund for any payments already made.

What is the difference between Avid Media Composer Fundamentals I and Avid Media Composer For Producers? I am a story producer but courses for Avid Media Composer Fundamentals I fits my schedule better. Would the Fundamentals 1 course still cover everything offered in the Producer course?

Hi Justin! The Fundamentals I class is an official Avid curriculum and it's a certification course, which means there's an optional certification exam available after the course. It also comes with a book. The Producers class is not a certification class, does not come with a book, and the other main difference is that the Fundamentals class covers things like effects, which the Producers class does not.

Will I receive the actual Avid Media certification after completing both Avid Media Composer Fundamentals I and Media Composer Fundamentals II (v8.6)?

There are optional certification exams for each class. Passing both exams makes a student an Avid Certified User. We offer exam sessions 1-2 a month, usually on weekday mornings at 10am or in the afternoon at 3pm. Exam sessions that fit the student’s schedule can be arranged if the scheduled session doesn’t work. Each exam is 50 multiple choice questions. Passing is 80% (40 correct). Exams are held at our facility in Burbank, CA.
