Description
Grand Central Atelier is a 501(c)3 art studio founded in 2013.
Mission:
To train a new generation of artists to draw, paint and sculpt, and to foster the community that sustains these artists and students.
Who We Are:
GCA anchors a vibrant community of professional artists, instructors and students.
In the tradition of ateliers, GCA instructors are graduates of the core program. Many are alumni of the Water Street Atelier (1990’s – 2007), and the Grand Central Academy (2006 – 2013). These two schools, earlier versions of the current Grand Central Atelier, were led by Jacob Collins and represent a continuum in artistic philosophy and practice.
GCA provides the following programming:
- A full-time core program lasting up to four years. International students may enroll with M-1 visas.
- A part-time program of classes, workshops and intensive boot camps; including courses designed for teens.
- Resident Artist Studios shared by artists who are alumni and instructors.
- Opportunities for artists such as monthly open sketch nights, competitions, artist residencies & fellowships.
- Eleventh Street Arts, our adjacent gallery space, hosts exhibitions, lectures and concerts that are free and open to the public.
