Reviews for Pizza Making Classes

Pizza Making Classes are rated 4.6 stars based on 85,114 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • Felt welcoming and peaceful. Nice to be in a group of quiet focus
  • Challenging in the best way! Loved the mix of technique and freedom. Left sweaty, inspired, and wanting more. Definitely coming back.
  • Peter was a fantastic teacher. I’m looking forward to taking more classes with him. The lessons have been invaluable and I feel really confident about my progress.
  • My experience at Jalopy School of Music was a positive one. The class size was small(3 students) and that felt perfect for a beginner group. We had a great instructor, Kyle M. I still have a long way to go on my guitar journey and I felt like this was a good 1st step for me.
  • The instructor was very knowledgeable in soap making and provided many tips for the students to become successful in their soap making. Very fun class!
  • Our instruction was helpful, friendly, and experienced. The class was extremely immersive and exciting. Would definitely recommend and will come back!
  • This was a really nice experience and I learned a lot! Great instructor, lovely kitchen space.
  • Anna was a great instructor - gave very helpful demonstration and remained very attentive to everyone's projects
  • Such an excellent way to be introduced to wheel throwing! Our instructor Siri was excellent— she explained the process well, and was very helpful as we encountered new questions and created new problems. We made multiple pieces each, and while only one firing is included in the class fee, the firing fee for additional pieces is so inexpensive that we ended up deciding to keep everything we made. We may be back to take more classes and learn more advanced skills :D
  • Clear, friendly instruction, lots of attempts to play around on the wheel, in a large workspace where more professional people were working and lots of cool work on the walls for inspiration. Price felt exactly right. Very messy, very fun!
  • He taught me a lot in the two hour session I was with him. I think more then I expected.
  • I came in with 2 pair of pants that I wanted to learn how to repair and did just that even though I never used a sewing machine before. My instructor, Wioletta, was amazing. Patience, encouraging, and light hearted. The hour went by so quickly. I didn't have any real interest in learning how to sew before this, but now I purchased my first sewing machine and I'm considering taking the 101 bootcamp!
  • This tour was really good - when it started, you sat down and they took your order for a free drink, and then you were free to leave the cabin and go out on the deck. If you head out early you can get a good spot so that you can see the NY landmarks. Also, when you got to the Statue of Liberty, they had an assistant there ready to clear an area of the deck so that everyone could take at least one picture if they wanted, which I thought was cool (since many people had flocked to the deck to take pictures of her and it blocked a lot of space). Overall, this was so relaxing. I will say, perfect date night idea!
  • Detail oriented instructor and beginner friendly class.
  • Lots of personal attention, care, and encouragement, and everything provided. It really gave a good introduction to the skills and techniques you need to become a jeweler.
  • Great intro into sewing basics. Very laid back and comfortable atmosphere.
  • Highly recommend. The Home Cooking kitchen is immaculate, and well stocked. Our instructor, Chef Al as super personable and shared several cooking tips for preparing dips, noodles, knife skills, deboning chicken .... and also provided detailed hand-outs so we could replicate at home. The class was fun, interactive and informative. What's more, we had time to test and enjoy a delicious Vietnamese dinner, family style, all within the 3 hour time slot. I absolutely loved the shrimp/pork spring rolls, and the marinated chicken. Loved it so much I've signed up for another class.
  • One of the best experiences I've had in a while. the chef was amazing the food was incredible, I would recommend to anyone that has never been or done a cooking class. 10 starts
  • I took the Fundamentals of Drawing & Painting and I loved it! I reconnected with my passion for art and I was guided very well to complete a piece of art I was proud of and could hang up! Would 100% recommend!
  • Learned so much in this class! Instructor was knowledgeable and personable, food was great, and I feel like I have a lot of takeaways that I'll be able to actually implement on my own.
  • Great instructor.
  • Ocie was fabulous - skilled and clear! It was a pleasure taking this class!
  • This was a really fun class for my teenage daughter and I to take together!
  • This class was so much fun — my husband and I learned a lot and enjoyed a delicious meal at the end of it.
  • I had THE MOST fun in this class. The instructor was a riot - super high energy, and the bar was actually so nice (the food slaps). The cocktails were delicious, and you get a variety. It's 100% worth the money for this one. Would highly recommend.
  • This class was great! A lot of good information up front - the first half of the class is dedicated to the book-knowledge, whereas the second is the more technical knowledge. You get to take the flowers and pot home with you, so it's worth it. The instructor was sooooo cute - she's a riot, and she's super fun to work with. Would highly recommend.
  • Fun, great instructor.
  • It exceeded my expectations. Sam was such a gifted and thoughtful teacher. 10/10
  • What a great yoga center! I really enjoyed going there twice a week for 4 weeks and being led by the experienced and warm teacher Aspara. Most students didn’t have much yoga experience and each class explored one of the 5 foundations of yoga (breathing, meditation, diet, positive thinking and poses). We went through the twelve poses in a slow and controlled pace. No pressure here, you do what you can! Price is very reasonable since the center is supported by volunteers. I’m looking at taking another class.
  • Alina Oswald is an excellent, patient instructor.. The lesson was methodical and well-paced. She provided helpful printed material during the lesson and the next day emailed me extensive follow-up information relevant to the lesson. I recommend her highly!
  • This was so fun! I brought my friend and we love to do arts projects. We brought our own beer and had a great time. There was not a lot of time to sip our beer during the class but that’s because we were very focused on the artwork. If you are a little unfamiliar with painting I would say the pace of the instruction may be a little fast. But I am already excited to come back.
  • James was a caring, dedicated, and passionate teacher. I have taken many drawing classes over the years and this was one of the best, and I've learned new skills as well! I highly recommend this class to anyone he wants to be taught by a wonderful teacher, and enhance their skills.
  • I really enjoyed the work. Finding my voice. Being challenged to write. Being honest. Learn to Take a risk. I would recommend to anyone. I’d definitely do it again.
  • It was great! ? I had a lot of fun. Thank you.
  • The event exceeded expectations. Everything was excellent. Thanks for your help.
  • Thank you and well done! Robert was great, and the initial feedback I received from students is that they had a lot of fun in the mystery murder escape room.
  • It was great! Everyone really loved it!
  • My team really loved the event! First time doing a virtual escape room and definitely not going to be the last time. We can't wait for another event!
  • Please give my best to the whole team, we had a great time and big laughs. Yu was amazing and it was great to hear someone "nerd out" about something they're passionate about.
  • Thank you very much Erin for hosting the event! It was great fun! ?
  • The origami class went well. Yu was a fantastic teacher, and she was so patient with me while I was trying to sort out the technical difficulties we faced on our end. Please thank her again from us. We appreciate CourseHorse working with us to create a class that suited our needs so well. Thank you!!!
  • Everything went really well—Erik was a hit with the team and incredibly knowledgeable. We’ll definitely be returning!
  • Our instructor Kavina was amazing! We had such a fun time and loved the class thanks to Kavina. Thank you for your assistance in coordinating!
  • Thanks so much! We very much enjoyed our time, and I’d like to plan for the next one.
  • I've heard nothing but great feedback and they all had a great time! Thank you again!
  • You guys did an incredible job and I know our group was a lot to handle, so thank you again.
  • It was a lot of fun, everyone had a great time and Nik did a great job of hosting!
  • I'm completely new, I took two classes. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. The class has a group of people who consistently go there, so there is a community. Great intro to improv, and I totally will come back.
  • Loved this course so much I'm already trying to figure out a next level of it! Even as someone who already does cook at home, especially within my culture's cuisine I learned so much in this class. In particular strong foundational things that ground you in how to think about food and cooking so that we can continue exploring ingredients and flavors beyond what we do in class. Very highly recommend!
  • The room needed little ventilation and air but the instructor was very good, very knowledgeable in the dance, really liked how every move in the warm ups came together into something cool at the end!

Discover the Best Pizza Making Classes Near Me

Pizza is one of the most universal and beloved dishes in the world. First originating in Naples, Italy, around the early 1800s, this dish is traditionally made from a flat round dough base, topped with tomato sauce and cheese, and then baked in an oven. The classic Neapolitan-style pizza was initially sold as street food in Italy before it developed into a globally beloved meal. Today, there are countless styles and variations on the original idea, ranging from Detroit-style to New York-style to Chicago deep dish. It's an evolving dish that continues to be reinvented and enjoyed with new flavors.

Pizza making is more than just throwing ingredients together. It requires understanding the different types of dough, sauces, and toppings that come with creating a great dish. If you're looking to become a master of the art, consider taking a pizza making class to learn the ins and outs of this classic dish.

Why You Should Learn Pizza Making

Whether you're just starting out with cooking or just want to learn a new skill, learning to make pizza can be a great way to challenge yourself and develop your culinary abilities. It provides a great way to discover new recipes and allows those interested in cooking to connect with one another in their community. This can be through a local club, online course, or private instructor, as learning how to make pizza is an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Moreover, the skills learned in a pizza making class can be applied to other dishes and dishes. For example, learning to create the perfect dough or use a wooden peel properly can help you with other dishes like focaccia and flatbreads. This applies even more to those who want to start a career in the culinary world. Obtaining training, knowledge, and experience in a niche area like pizza making can be extremely valuable in the restaurant industry.

5 Ways to Learn Pizza Making

There are several options for learning how to make pizza, each with its own pros and cons. Here are 5 of the most popular ways to learn pizza making:

  1. Formal classes: One of the most popular ways to learn pizza making or any new skill is by enrolling in a traditional class. These classes can be in-person, live online, or on-demand, allowing participants to select the format that best meets their learning needs. Formal training ensures students learn the proper techniques and skills from a reputable instructor.
  2. Apprenticeships: For those who want to master the art of pizza making, an apprenticeship can be a great way to boost their knowledge and experience. Apprenticeships allow culinary students to work with professional pizza makers, learn from their guidance, and receive feedback. This is usually the best path for aspiring pizza chefs, as it provides valuable real-world experience.
  3. Culinary/Fine Arts Schools: Enrolling in a culinary or fine arts school can be a fantastic way to gain the skills necessary to make great pizza. These schools often have specialized classes dedicated to pizza making, featuring topics like dough preparation and classic recipes. This route is an excellent way to learn about all aspects of cooking rather than just pizza making.
  4. On-the-Job Training: For those looking to enter the world of pizza making as a career, on-the-job training is an essential part of the process. Working in a professional kitchen with experienced pizza chefs can provide invaluable experience and insight that cannot be taught in a classroom. There may also be opportunities to work with a mentor who can provide guidance and support.
  5. YouTube and Free Resources: Finally, plenty of YouTube videos and free resources are available online for those looking for cost-effective options. These can be a great way to learn the basics without spending too much money. However, they do not replace the experience of working with a mentor or taking a formal class, as there are limited ways to check the reliability of the information.

In-Person Pizza Making Classes

There are pizza making classes available across the country, ranging from beginner-friendly options to more specialized courses for experienced pizza makers. These in-person offerings provide a great opportunity for learners to discover new recipes, practice their techniques with guidance from a professional instructor, and network with other pizza lovers.

New York City residents looking to learn the art of pizza making can take the Neapolitan Pizza Making class from ilFornino Pizza Academy located in the Valley Cottage area of Rockland County. Neapolitan pizza is a specialty type of pizza that originated in Naples, Italy and is known for the 'leopard skin' pattern of charring on the outer crust. This class offers students hands-on instruction in making traditional Neapolitan pizza dough and mastering the art of cooking it in an oven. It's a hands-on class that allows participants to enjoy wine while they learn and sample their creations at the end of the course. The cost is $179, with an average of ten participants per class.

CocuSocial Cooking Classes in Midtown Manhattan has a Handmade Pizza Party class for $124 per person. It's a beginner-friendly option that teaches the art of making quick-rising dough, choosing flour, kneading techniques, and baking the perfect pizza. All the ingredients and equipment needed are provided, making this a fantastic option for those looking to learn how to make pizza without investing in any materials. Participants can build a pizza with all their favorite toppings before sitting down with the group to sample the meal and enjoy a drink. This class features an experienced Chef instructor to ensure all participants have an enjoyable and informative experience.

Taste Buds Kitchen in Chelsea, Manhattan, has an Incredible Handmade Pizza (BYOB) class that costs $180 per two students. It's available for anyone 21 and older who wants to learn how to craft Artisan-style pizza. The class includes making dough from scratch, shaping the dough, learning different cooking methods, and creating the perfect pizza sauce. Of course, there are also plenty of toppings to choose from so everyone can customize their pizza. The curriculum includes an option for classic margarita pizza, brunch pizza, and even a mushroom lovers pizza to ensure something for everyone. There's even instruction on crafting thin-crust-style pizzas, a difficult skill to master. Guests can bring their own beverages to enjoy while they cook and taste the class creations.

Los Angeles residents can jump into the Pizza Pizzas class at Chef Eric’s Culinary Classroom on Pelham Avenue. This class is designed for home cooks of all skill levels eager to learn the craft of pizza-making. It's open to anyone 15 years and older and costs $150 per participant. Chef Eric's Culinary Classroom is a popular cooking school that has trained renowned chefs since 2003. This hands-on, interactive class teaches the art of making several different types of pizza, including Margherita, chicken alfredo, and pepperoni cheese. The course also includes a discussion on specialty pizza, tips on selecting ingredients, and cooking techniques.

For those in LA considering a career in the culinary industry or those who want to focus on more detailed pizzas, the Specialty Pizza Course from VPN Americas is an excellent option. This comprehensive class is divided into two sections: the theoretical period and the practical period. The theoretical section of the course runs for approximately 30 minutes and covers the fundamentals of crafting gluten-free pizza and important safety considerations for cooking in an allergy-friendly environment. The hands-on portion of the class lasts five hours and covers every step of the pizza making process, from finding the perfect oven temperature to rolling out the dough correctly. This class costs $650 and includes a VPN gift bag for those who complete the course.

There's also a course for those who want to open their own pizza restaurant and need a comprehensive training program to prepare them to educate staff, execute recipes, and manage inventory. The Professional Pizza Course from VPN Americas costs $2,850 per participant and is separated into four sections over five days. It has a similar curriculum to the standard pizza making program, covering theoretical knowledge and a hands-on practical workshop period. The added bonus of the professional-level class is the cheese-making workshop and practical test-taking that measures participants' knowledge and skills. It also includes uniforms for each participant, a panel of judges from Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, and instructor support.

Classpop! in Atlanta offers the Classic Wood-Fired Pizza course, covering the fundamentals of pizza-making. It's open to those 21 and older and has an average class size of ten participants. Chef Chris instructs the class and covers topics including basic cooking techniques, fun recipes to try at home, and a chance to gather and sample the delicious pizza created in the class. All of the ingredients and materials needed for the course are provided, and participants can try making wood-fired pizza alongside the experienced Chef. The class costs $129 per person and includes a special gift bag for those who complete it.

Virtual Pizza Making Classes

Online pizza making classes still have all of the components of an in-person course, from theoretical instruction to practical workshops. While in-person classes are an excellent option for learning the hands-on aspect of pizza making, virtual classes are still a great choice for beginners or those who want to avoid commuting to a physical location. These advantages allow students to learn at their own pace and schedule.

However, students should consider some key factors associated with virtual learning. This includes that most online classes do not provide supplies or materials needed to create the pizza, so participants must source their ingredients. Additionally, virtual courses require the participant to feel comfortable cooking in their own kitchen, as they will not have the support of an instructor or fellow participants outside the computer.

The Virtual Pizza Making class taught by Eve Bergazyn is an excellent option for those wishing to learn the basics of pizza making from their home. The course costs $45 per participant and is open to all over 14 who enjoy cooking and want to learn how to make pizza from scratch. No materials are provided, so students must follow the shopping list for ingredients and kitchen tools to get the whole experience. The flexible class allows participants to create pizzas with their favorite toppings or follow one of the provided recipes.

For those who enjoy spicy foods and want to learn how to craft sauces to compliment their pizza, the Hot Sauce Making class from Food Craft LA is a great option. The lesson covers the basics of making hot sauce such as which ingredients to use and how to compose tasty combinations. There is a focus on using Mexican chili peppers, the typical choice for spicier sauce recipes. The class costs $750 and complements pizza making, as the sauces can be enjoyed alongside the recipes you learn in a pizza class.

What Will I Need to Learn Pizza Making?

While some in-person classes provide the ingredients and tools needed to create a pizza from scratch, online courses may require participants to source specific ingredients and kitchen equipment to follow along. Some of the most common kitchen tools for making pizza include rolling pins, cutting boards, bowls, knives, pizza pans, or cookie sheets for baking.

The ingredients you need depend on the type of pizza you are making. For example, a classic Margherita pizza requires mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, and fresh basil leaves. Additional ingredients like sausage, peppers, onions, olives, mushrooms, or anchovies may be included for more creative toppings. Considering these costs when booking a class is essential for budgeting and planning.
