Reviews for Knitting Classes in NYC

Knitting Classes in NYC are rated 4.6 stars based on 1,426 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • Lori was terrific. She was patient and a great teacher. I learned a lot and had so much fun. I highly recommend Lori at the Crafty Lounge!
  • Enjoyed the class, very informative, but fast paced. The teacher worked with us well. Showed you the key things so you can work with ur own machine
  • Awesome class!
  • I was a bit more advanced than other students—and they accommodated me. I left with exactly the skills I wanted!! Really a great experience.
  • I had never even picked up a ball of yarn before -- and I have a history of being klutzy and nervous when it comes to this sort of skill. The instructor (Ginny or Jenny; I forgot to get the spelling!) was amazing -- so patient, clear, and good-natured! She anticipated what problems we might be having and tried to help us avoid them; she was very funny and reassuring. I left with about half my cowl done, which, believe me, was more than I expected! I hope to finish it at a later session, when I can count on her wise guidance. And Brooklyn Craft Company is always a fun place to shop and just hang out. I love their offerings -- they always have something fun and new to try. This was a truly enjoyable experience!
  • This class was so much fun! I learned the fundamentals and also left with a tangible pair of pants which is awesome.
  • Personalized attention. I was able to learn a new method of casting on and improve my novice skill set. Thanks!
  • Very clean, nicely run place with a cute dog!!! Made a good looking, warm scarf and learned a lot. Recommend !
  • The instructor was patient and kind. I was able to complete the neck cowl within 3 hrs. Great class for beginners.
  • Really great, practical class! I feel prepared to take on more projects with these basics under my belt.
  • The class was great. The teacher was lovely and informative. I gained a new respect and understanding for the art of millinery and for the amount of thought and creativity that goes into it. Definitely 10 out of 10
  • The class was wonderful! Nice atmosphere and Lori was such a great instructor, will definitely take more classes in the future.
  • This was a great class. Lovely location. Laurie was super welcoming, helpful and patient. Would definitely go back.
  • The instructors were patient, knowledgeable and helpful. It was fun, look forward to going back!
  • Loved the sewing class. Diana is an amazing and caring instructor!!!
  • Loved it. Instructor and class was great. Really fun experience and eager to keep learning.
  • Class was small (there was about 7 of us). First couple of hours was learning to sew for tote bag , then break for 1 hour and the remaining hours was learning to sew the bottoms that you have chosen. I was not able to finish my project at the end but they gave an option to return another day to finish it up. Definitely learned a lot. Instructor was clear and patient with us.
  • I thought the instructor was always well prepared. She spent time answering everyone's questions and worked with everyone. The class made you want to sew.
  • My mom and I had so much fun in the class! We ended up making a pouch and now we use it for our travels. Ingvild is a very patient teacher and we’re so happy we took her class.
  • My wife and her friend had a great time, they really enjoyed the class. I believe Emily was the teacher and they liked her teaching method!
  • Knowledgeable , patient and kind staff.
  • The instructor was incredibly patient and explained everything in a way that made learning easy and fun. The class covered all the basics, from casting on to creating different stitches, and I was able to make a small project by the end. The atmosphere was welcoming, and I loved meeting others who shared the same interest. It was a relaxing and creative experience, and I can't wait to take more classes. Highly recommend for anyone looking to pick up knitting.
  • I came to the Alterations private class with the intention of really understanding how to alter clothes so they actually fit me. For many years I've worn oversized tops, boxy shirts, and so forth. This was an ambitious venture for me: how to keep my beloved garments but update them to my actual (slim) measurements. I found Ingvild a very reassuring person. In fact, she had such a reassuring presence that I was able to discuss frankly the aspects of my figure I wanted to de-emphasize. I came home excited about the various ways I can remake the garments I already own. I am pleased that I signed up for time with her.
  • It was such a helpful class. Highly recommend if you're trying to learn how to alter your own clothes.
  • Very useful class! Ingvild was lovely and I liked the way she set up the class, having me bring in a couple items and work on them together while explaining everything and giving me instructions for continuing.
  • It was excellent the teacher was great
  • I was an electronics engineer and in my retirement I learned 3D-printing, laser cutting, advanced woodworking and more at a makerspace. But the makerspace didn't have sewing and I didn't know how to shorten pants or even use a sewing machine to stitch a top loop on the stretchy green-screen fabric I use for my ZOOM session backgrounds. I also want to change a flannel shirt or two that I have with tuck-in tails to flat-bottomed so I don't have to tuck them inside my pants. I have no desire to make clothes from scratch. I now feel confident I can sew what I wanted to sew with what I learned in this course and some online research. The course had a relaxed friendly atmosphere and instructor Diana Rogers roamed the room giving each student considerable individual attention. After the first class, my wife and I finally ditched our 20-plus-year-old sewing machine that was giving her trouble, and purchased a new Singer sewing machine for less than $200 that is similar to the Singers we used in class. I highly recommend this course.
  • The instructor was very patient and attentive, and the projects were appropriate for a beginner.
  • Amanda was very patient with me. She demonstrated and I still didn’t understand or remember next steps she showed me again.
  • Aubrey was amazing. Really patient and helpful!
  • I worked with Mary and she was a perfect match. I showed up over prepared with my machine and variations of fabric. She jumped right in and provided me with all of the base knowledge I need to jump into sewing including stitching techniques, fabrications, along with the ins and outs of my particular machine. There wasn’t a single question that was left unanswered and she was genuinely down to earth. The two hours flew by and I honestly wish I could rewind that whole day because we worked very well together. I’m so happy I chose this!!
  • The instructor was very patient and very informative about the sewing machine project. I enjoyed it so much that I booked another session.
  • So great! Fabulous venue to learn. Bright engaging instructors. I am obsessed with sewing now.
  • The class was absolutely AMAZING. I love Hillary's calm, fun, focused style of teaching! It made it really fun and easy. I learned SO MUCH!
  • The instructor was great. She was patient and helpful during all the classes. The classroom are equipped with all the necessary materials, and are modern and clean. The staff is polite and helpful. The classes were engaging, useful, and addressed all the material covered in the syllabus. Highly recommend.
  • Loved this class and learned so much! Will definitely be back.
  • I had a great experience with this class. We learned how to make a log cabin quilt block. The teacher explained different ways to arrange colors to create different effects. I used some fabric that I had brought, and then I also purchased some during the class to complement the design. They had really cute fabrics in the store and it was fun to look around. This class got me into quilting. I am making my own full size quilt now.
  • It was a great class! I felt guided and comfortable enough to take on the challenges. I felt the teacher had a good vision for the class and it was not overwhelming.
  • Class rescheduled as it was fully booked but am still looking forward to it.
  • This is such a worthwhile class! I recommend that everyone learn or refresh their sewing skills. The instructors are all approachable, knowledgeable, patient and have a sense of humor.
  • The one on one class with Ingvild was so amazing. I really had a great time learning how to create this tote. Ingvild has such amazing energy and answered all of my questions. She really loves what she does and it shines through in all aspects of her teaching. I would love to go back and take another class with her and I would recommend this class to everyone!
  • The instructor was patient and engaging. I gained new skills and walked away with a finished bag.
  • Class was great! Emily was a great teacher- very approachable and good at explaining things. I feel confident about sewing basics
  • This class was really nice. The instructor was hands-on and had really high energy. I didn't realize I had to buy materials, so just plan to purchase materials in addition to the cost of the class!
  • Exactly what I was looking for! A great class to learn knitting basics. The instructor was so helpful and patient. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking to learn how to knit, it’s much easier than trying to learn online.
  • great instructor who was somehow able to help everyone and be super encouraging the whole time!
  • Very simple, not complicated, solutions to wardrobe issues!
  • Such a lovely teacher and the class was great! I adored the scarf at the end too! Can't wait to make myself another one soon!
  • This was so fun! The whole staff was warm and welcome. Loved picking fabric, and seeing my tote come together. Highly suggest
  • I had a great time in this class. Everyone that was so friendly. Amy was a great instructor. She explained everything clearly. I know feel confident to take on my sewing machine. I plan on taking more sewing classes in the near future.
