Tools and Techniques of Poetry

Share your story, sculpt your feelings & ideas, explore the art & craft of poetry! This workshop is open to both beginning & advanced writers. We will create a safe environment to cultivate and hone poetic tools & techniques. 

Over the course of the workshop: 

• We will examine the poet's toolkit, e.g., line-breaks, rhyme, metaphor, forms etc., in a supportive atmosphere, through writing prompts and exercises. 
• We will look at poetry as both a written and a performance artform. 
• Students will learn the art of revision and will workshop poems with both the instructor and each other. 

Every student—whether a beginner or long-time writer—will get the same level of attention. Logistics and desire-permitting, there will be a poetry reading as a culminating event, for the students to perform a selection of their work.
