Class Description

Description

Learn how to transform pure pigments and gum arabic into highly-saturated watercolor paints. The ratio of gum arabic to pigment will be emphasized. The “Classic” version offers a selection of 25-30 pigments that vary in characteristics- gritty, fine, opaque, transparent, earth, synthetic, pearlescent, etc.

Experiment with custom color-mixing. Participants make a 14-color full pan set! Includes a metal palette that doubles as a carrying case.

Bring the following:

  • Pen and paper for notes
  • Apron and dust mask
  • Studio shoes

Keep in mind that these paints will be liquid/fragile at the end of the class. It is possible to take them with you right after the class, but we do recommend allowing them to dry for a couple of days at the shop before coming back to take them home.

  • Paid classes are only eligible for store credit if canceled by customer.
  • Due to high demand, we can only offer refunds on class cancellations made 4 business days prior to the class date.

  • Make Your Own Watercolor: Classic

Absolutely fantastic. Anyone with a curiosity of how watercolors are made should definitely consider going. Those who watercolor would, of course, learn a great deal and also walk away with 14 full pans of 14 hand made colors all securely place within a metal palette. Rachael the person we had is so knowledgeable and also low keyed and reassuring so it was a wonderfully relaxed, fun filled time.
