Description

In this two-day course, you will learn not only the traditional method of establishing value, and exploring color, but also what to look for in your subject that will breathe an extra bit of life into the portrait. 

In this workshop we will work in an alla prima style where students will learn the stages of oil painting. The process will be streamlined to expertly capture and maintain the strongest impression of the subject as possible, in the fastest time possible. 

Students will bring their own images of the portraits that they’d like to paint. 

The following is a list of materials Jen uses in her paintings. Students should try to get as many items as they can: 

-Ampersand Gesso Panels to paint on but you can use anything you wish 

-Paints: 

  • Ivory black (Michael Harding) 
  • English red (Old Holland) 
  • Vermilion (Zecchi) 
  • Alizarin Crimson (Michael Harding) 
  • Cobalt blue (Michael Harding) 
  • Viridian (Vasari) 
  • Emerald Green (Michael Harding) 
  • Yellow Ochre (Vasari) 
  • Naples Yellow (Vasari) 
  • Lead White (Rublev)

Refund Policy

No refund unless the school cancels the class.

No refund or credit for missed sessions (No Exceptions).

No credits unless notified 48 hours ahead of the class.

We do honor change-of-date requests for in-person sketch classes with at least 5 business days' notice and for workshops with 8 business days' notice.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
