Who This Class Is For: This class is designed for early intermediate and intermediate adult violin students who want to sharpen their technical abilities and build a stronger foundation for more advanced playing.
When: Classes are held every Tuesday at 6:30 PM.
Goal: The primary objective of this class is to strengthen your overall technique so that you can advance your skill level on the violin and confidently take on more challenging repertoire.
What You Will Learn: The central focus of this class is left-hand technique, which encompasses a broad range of essential skills. Topics include correcting intonation issues, shifting between positions, scales, developing vibrato, and improving your music reading ability. Every four to six weeks, the class shifts its attention to a new topic, giving you focused practice time on each skill area.
Prerequisites: You must be comfortable sight-reading easy music in first position. You should also be familiar with accidentals and slurs. If you can play the sample piece shown above, you meet the qualifications for this class and will be able to keep up with the material we cover.
Who This Class Is Not For: This class is not suitable for absolute beginners, beginners, or late beginners. If you fall into one of those categories, please attend the Wednesday or Saturday sessions instead, as this class will move too quickly. Additionally, this class is not intended for students who are solely interested in making music together without a technical focus. For that experience, the 7:30 PM Orchestra class is a better fit.
Do I Need a Violin to Attend? Yes, you will definitely need your own violin for this class, and you will also need one to practice with at home. If you need to rent a violin from us, please note that instead of collecting a separate down payment, we apply class and lesson package purchases toward the rental deposit. Before we can provide you with a rental instrument, we will need to see a receipt or record of your package purchase.
