What you'll learn in this glass blowing class:

In this summer intensive students will get an introduction to kiln casting glass using Zircar Mold Mix 6 molds. Zircar Mold Mix 6 is a high temperature ceramic mold material used to make lightweight, strong, reusable mold for glass casting and blowing.

What to Expect:

During this workshop students will make several Zircar Mold Mix 6 molds based on original designs. These molds will be built up around hand carved panels of linoleum and can be used for multiple castings. After these molds are allowed to dry, the class will prepare these molds for the kiln.
Students will learn about the process of kiln casting and how to create a firing schedule for their unique casting project.

The students can expect to leave the session with the skills to make a Zircar Mold Mix 6 mold, their reusable molds, and the glass objects they cast during the session. The class will include demonstrations, but students will make their own molds based on original designs and will prepare their castings independently.

School Notes:

Preparing for class

It is recommended that students bring notebooks and water bottles to in person classes. All basic materials and supplies needed for the class will be provided. If students wish to use specific tools or materials not supplied in class they are responsible for obtaining these items themselves.

Studio Attire

For your safety, protective eyewear must be worn at all times in all areas of the UrbanGlass Studio. We will provide appropriate eyewear for your use. Appropriate work clothes are also required. Flammable or synthetic fabrics, sandals and open-toe shoes are not allowed. Long hair must be tied back.

Refund Policy

Enrollment cancellations made outside sixteen (16) days from the first day of class are eligible for a refund less a 5% processing fee. Refunds will not be granted for any cancellations made inside sixteen (16) days from the first day of class, or for withdrawals during class.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
