  • Loved this class. The studio is just perfect and the instructor was extremely knowledgeable. Great introduction to a patternmaking!
  • Pattern Making for Beginners (1-Hour Private)

The instructor completely modeled the class specifically for me and I learned exactly what I wanted to learn. I will come back for more lessons. The sign up was a bit confusing as it was not clear that what you were signing up for is a 1 hour personal class. So you must call after signing up and set up a session.
  • Pattern Making for Beginners (1-Hour Private)

very good class, i learned a lot
  • Pattern Making for Beginners (1-Hour Private)

The person giving the was wonderful, I had a time learning to do a shirt for me
  • Pattern Making for Beginners (1-Hour Private)

I had a great experience with Pattern Making for Beginners (Private). My teacher was clearly quite knowledgable and communicated the basics I needed to know in a way that was accessible and fun. There is nothing like getting one on one instruction and working fully hands on. This class gave me the confidence to create my own patterns that are appropriate for my skill level. My teacher was kind and patient and I highly recommend taking such a class. It is also nice to know such private classes are available whenever I may hit a stumbling block or need a refresher. Excellent experience all around!
  • Pattern Making for Beginners (1-Hour Private)

Excellent! I got the exact info I was looking for in this one hour private session. The instructor was thorough and helpful, while also a wealth of information. Couldn’t be better, although maybe I should have booked 2 hours because the time flew.
  • Pattern Making for Beginners (1-Hour Private)

    Very thorough and informative.
  • Pattern Making for Beginners (1-Hour Private)

I learned so much in the time I spent with the instructor. I think I may schedule another course. Thanks again!
  • Pattern Making for Beginners (1-Hour Private)

It was a great refresher course into patternmaking. Thank you!
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Mondays

Amazing class! If you want to learn shoes - come. Basically you get work at your own pace individualized instruction in shoemaking. If I can afford to (and this is the best bang for you buck class in NYC) I will keep re-enrolling in this class, as I learn something new with each pair of shoes I make
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Sundays

The output of the class is great - you learn a new skill and finish with a real, wearable shoe. But the other students are the best part of the class. People come from all sorts of backgrounds (finance, artists, writers, engineers, fashion, medicine, students) and it is inspiring to see their creativity and how each person's personality comes through in the shoes they've designed. More than I've experienced in any other class in New York, there is a real community that has been created in Emily's class.
  • Pattern Making for Beginners (1-Hour Private)

Excellent one on one class with Timothy at the sewing center. I took a 2 hour spot and learned so much. Great class!
  • This was a great course, and the small class size made it easy to connect with the other students. Rachael is a wonderful and patient instructor, who spent quality time with each of us and her directions were very easy to follow. I didn't know there was so much math involved (which I hate) but I left the class feeling like I can take my craft to the next level. I felt like the information I received more than outweighed the cost. I can't wait to sign up for another class.
  • After the reading the reviews I decided to just go for it and take the pattern making private course with Daniel. I learned so much in two hours. He was so patient and broke everything down to me. I will definitely be signing up for another class. I enjoyed it so much and he was a great instructor. He was professional and very knowledgeable.
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Sundays

Emily Putterman is an amazing teacher who gives her all to each student. Hats off to her! My boots came out awesome!!
  • Danny was a helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient instructor.
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Sundays

I love, love this class. Emily is an amazing instructor and I've made the best looking shoes.
  • An amazing and jam packed 4 weeks, which is exactly what I needed. Really appreciated that the course was very cut to the chase, no fuss just all the information you need to get started in pattern making. The instructor is great and very attentive to each students needs. Loved it and eager to take the draping course next.
  • Block Printing Workshop

The class was very informative and fun! The class size was small therefore each student was able to receive a fair share of time with the instructor. I would definitely recommend this course!
  • I loved loved loved this !! The Shoe Space in Brooklyn is a place passionate about everything to do about shoes ! The design, the fit, the use, the feel , the practicality, the whimsical about shoes. I signed up for only the first day of a 5 day intensive class. I learned about measuring the foot, about shoe lasts and how to create a pattern to make a shoe. I was so energized by Keiko.
  • LuvLuv Joey for his patience
  • It was very detailed and one of the best classes i took.
  • Keiko is an excellent resource for shoe-making and the class was very thorough and engaging!
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Sundays

Great class real informative , the instructor is awesome she makes you want to learn. Classmates are even greater , wouldn't mind take this again and I am !!!!!!!
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Sundays

Emily is very knowledgeable and hands-on. Every student gets to work on a shoe of their design but most important is her encouragement and advice. The class camaraderie & her humor were an unexpected bonus.
  • Small intimate classes allowing one-on-one time. It's a very fast paced class that teaches you the basics. Daniel, the instructor, is very thorough & makes you feel very confident and positive the entire class. You learn the basics of not only draping, in this case, the front and back bodice, but also the materials and terminology. I've also taken several other classes from Esaie and it's well worth it!
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Sundays

Incredible!! Emily is a great teacher & has excellent patience structure.
  • amazing class! so much fun with great teacher Elizabeth!
  • Basic Sloper: Bodice

small class with lots of personal attention
