Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this dumpling class:

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to learn the craft of making authentic dumplings from scratch!

In this hands-on and interactive class, you will be guided step-by-step through refining your knife skills, making dumpling fillings, and learning the art of folding wonton wrappers into various traditional shapes. Your chef instructor will also demonstrate how to make dumpling dough from scratch so you can practice making it on your own at home.

There will be two types of fillings available to make: ground beef & veggie or a vegan filling.

You will learn the techniques to steam, pan fry, and deep fry the dumplings. Guests will also learn to make two types of ponzu dipping sauces. Once you have created your masterpieces, you will then plate up and enjoy eating your creations!

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive, not hardcore. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Notes:

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, wearing your mask.
  • You will be seated with your booking party and socially distanced from other guests. Guests in the same booking party will work together throughout the class by sharing ingredients and equipment.
  • Drinks are NOT included in the ticket price, but will be available for sale at the venue. Outside drinks are not allowed.
  • 21+ only.

It was difficult to hear the instructor and I wish we were able to make the ponzu sauce ourselves.

Although the class was enjoyable and an unique experience, very concerned about the lack of sanitary enforcement. Attendees were given the option of wearing gloves and washing their hands. This should be strict compliance. After sitting down all guest were instructed to begin prepping their vegetables. Once completed the facilitator gathered all the vegetables in one bowl and cooked them in the same pot. In a post COVID world, all attendees should have been instructed to wear gloves if this was the process that was going to be taken. I do want to say that the final cooking of the dumplings (steamed) was done separately and clearly marked to isolate each guests food. I was completely turned off by the prep process therefore I did not eat the final product due to being extremely concerned. Not certain if your concept was once food reaches a certain temperature it kills off all germs, but you should really rethink the need for all to wear gloves just to ensure sanitary conditions are being maintained by all.

This was such a fun class. Dumplings are harder to make than I had expected. I would recommend this class to anyone that loves food, enjoys a challenge, and wants to try something new. The dumplings were so yummy and the instructor was kind, knowledgeable, and had a great personality.
