Attended: Havana Nights (BYOB)

Equipment malfunctioned so we got off track and had to wait for it to be fixed. I believe the class ran behind (maybe because of our equipment issue) so we skipped making the salsa verde and also started to rush which meant we missed out on more detailed instructions (i.e. were told to do the thing without much additional explanation of how). Would have loved for the class description to clarify up front that ingredients would be shared in groups of 4. Always good to set expectations and know you'll have to share/mingle with other couples vs working independently.

The class was pretty fun, but it seemed like the instructions were kind of thrown at us very quickly and then we were expected to immediately do them. Sometimes we were given instructions for 5-10 minutes and then expected to remember everything that was said.

Overall the class was fun but wasn't quite what we were expecting. We shared a cooking station with another couple who we didn't know; this meant that we had to share the items and awkwardly try to agree on spice levels and other details. The other couple got a little heavy handed with some ingredients which greatly affected the flavor of the meal. There were also issues of our comfort level in handling each others' food. It was also very difficult to hear the instructor (perhaps better to have them on a microphone). It would have been nice to know exactly what masala spices we were given up front (they were just premeasured on a plate).

We had a blast at Tastebuds Kitchen! The head chef was wonderful and made the class really fun for everyone. She demonstrated each dish and then gave us a specific amount of time to complete each dish with the other couple at our table. She also provided us with instructions on how to cook everything at home. Would definitely take another class again!
