The New York Writers’ Intensive is a writing workshop for writers who are serious about improving their craft and producing work they can publish and be proud of.
It’s also perfect for working writers doing long projects who want the structure, deadlines, and social support that come from a writing workshop—as well as targeted feedback to help them finish, polish, and publish their work.
“Intensive” means you’ll have a writing deadline every single week. Every Tuesday, you’ll file what you’ve written that week, and every Thursday evening, you’ll come to the workshop and receive feedback. The rigor of the weekly deadline will force you to produce, and getting thoughtful feedback from other smart writers will help you get better and better as you publish and reap the rewards.
The New York Writers' Intensive is for:
Serious writers who are ready to work and want to get better fast.
Freelancers who want the structure, deadlines, social support, and feedback that come from a writing workshop.
Working writers doing long projects who want feedback before they submit to publishers.

Jay is great. It's a very hands on class where you get some tips on how to not get stuck while writing and prompts that help you write. After the 45 minutes allowed for free writing, you also get to read your piece and get feedback from both Jay and the other writers. There is absolutely no pressure on reading or get feedback if you don't want to.

I thought the class was going to be more or less checking grammar
The instructor was okay. But he speaks so fast and he bite his words. So it was really hard to
understand his critiques.

One of the top three creative writing classes I have ever taken—and the other two were full semesters’ worth. I’d definitely take any creative writing class or workshop by Jay. His class could easily turn into a TED Talk. He’s a great teacher because his delivery is flawless. He engages the entire class and remembers everyone’s name… devil is in the details.
