Reviews for Wine Making Classes in NYC

Wine Making Classes in NYC are rated 4.7 stars based on 6 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • I have been attending courses & seminars through the ASA since 2009 and I think it is an incredible resource for learning about wine & the industry as a whole. The courses are well organized to facilitate the learning process. The subject matter is thorough & detailed, so you always come away feeling like you are constantly learning something new. And lastly, the instructors are all fabulous. They contribute from their working knowledge in the industry, plus they have all been through the courses, so they approach the classes in a constructive way so the students will get the most out of it. The seminars are great also. Rachel and Andrew design them to be different and more interesting then the basic seminar offerings you get at other establishments. Personally, I'm excited to continue my wine education through the ASA. They are always evolving the curriculum and format of the courses and as mentioned, the seminars are a great way of staying abreast of certain topics without having to commit a lot of time. That suits me very well personally since I have a very demanding full time job. I would highly recommend the ASA to anyone interested in furthering their education & knowledge about wine & the industry as a whole.
  • The world of wine is infinite. It is a challenging subject to delve into but it is incredibly interesting and ever changing. I have been in the service industry (primarily in restaurants) for the past 15 years. Early on in my career when potential employers would ask "How's your wine knowledge?" I would respond "excellent!" I look back and laugh at how ridiculous and inaccurate that response was. A little over 3 years ago, I decided to begin proper education and actually take a wine course. I researched for months the different possibilities of the schools, platforms, and paths that were available and decided on the foundation course with American Sommelier Association. The foundation course truly did help build a foundation for me; In the restaurant world and in my knowledge of wine. I have since taken the Viticulture and Vinification course, the Blind Tasting course, and other seminars including Sales, Service and Buying, Cigars, beer, etc. What I appreciate the most about American Sommelier Association is their desire to make every course better than the last. After over three years of taking courses with ASA, it's amazing to watch them evolve with the wine world. Changing and updating their books, updating the layout of the courses, providing different seminars, and finding incredible teachers that specialize in the regions they teach that are knowledgeable through their years of experience working on the floor and putting together wine programs/lists for many recognized restaurants throughout the city. I love the fact that they make it fun and interesting while pushing you out of your comfort zone (especially in blind tasting). They provide a perfect platform for you to learn and succeed: combining theory and tasting. The information is detailed and requires work outside of the classroom. Besides the education, the people that you meet in class, whether it be fellow students or teachers is priceless. Networking. Wine Tastings. Job Offers. It's wonderful to be in a community of people with the the same interest and passion for wine. I truly believe that with this type of education, and in life, you get out of it what you put into it...If it were easy, everyone would be a Sommelier!
