Ava Heuer

Ava Heuer is a highly respected leader in the field of business analysis and project management, with expertise in business process development, requirements management, and risk management.  In addition to her 25 years experience in the corporate world, her 15 year service as Vice President of Professional Development for the Project Management Institute (PMI) New Jersey Chapter brings a wealth of training, coaching, and mentoring experience.

Ava Heuer has a broad range of professional experience through her work at Alcatel-Lucent’s Bell Laboratories where she led R&D projects related to underwater sonar systems for the U.S.. Navy and more recently, wireless telephony.  She often served dual roles, as both business analyst and project manager, sometimes separately, often simultaneously.  As a manager of joint partnerships, her projects ranged from multi-year, multi-million contracts under strict government control to small projects with minimal controls, thus experiencing the full spectrum from rigorous formal processes to informal agile processes.

Now an independent consultant with special expertise in tailoring processes to fit the size and culture of an organization, Ava has worked with such clients as Sanofi-Aventis, T-Mobile, Dialogic, Jones-LaSalle, and IBM.   She has also been an instructor for Boston University Corporate Education Division and has delivered training to professionals in various pharmaceutical, finance, telecommunications, and government agencies.  Ava is also an adjunct professor in the Graduate Division at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) where her online courses have been rated as “exemplary” by an independent educational assessment team.  She also teaches both project management and business analysis courses in the Continuing and Professional Education departments of both Pace University and NJIT.

Ava holds a BS in Engineering Science from NJIT, an MS in Engineering Science from NJIT, a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, and in 1996 received the Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) from PMI.  She is also a member of the National Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi.
