You may have heard of Concha & Toro, Casillero del Diablo and even Carmenere but Chilean wine is so much more.
Itinerary:
Join our weekly Chilean Wine Tasting Series this fall as we travel and taste through a number of unique wines and regions of Chile.
On our journey, we’ll learn all about the fantastic history, grapes (from classic Cabernet Sauvignon to the native Pais grape).
Every week, we’ll discover the traditional wines that have put Chile on the wine map, from the Maule and Maipo wine regions to the more obscure and esoteric styles which are currently making a lot of headlines in wine news, specially those near the Patagonia.
Aside from this, you’ll receive exclusive information and insider tips on travel destinations: where to go and what to see in Chile right now.
Highlights:
Learn not only from a certified sommelier but one who origins lie within the boundaries of Chile.
Join us through an extraordinary adventure of one of the most popular wine regions of the Southern Hemisphere right here in NYC.
Tasting Schedule:
Nov 6th - The Wines of Maule & Maipo Valley & The Wines of Colchagua
Want to taste some interesting old vine Carignan wines? Come to the Maule wine region, considered the largest wine producing region in the country. Maipo on the other, produces some of the country’s most refined wines, frequently called the “Bordeaux of South America”.
If you had to depict the ideal setting for vines and specially for juicy, ripe grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere, Colchagua would fit the bill in every way. Today the region is considered one of the most promising in all of South America.
Nov 13th - The Wines of Aconcagua & Casablanca
Dating back the 1870s, Don Maximiliano Errazuriz was scorned at for even thinking a region this dry and arid could produce any type of vitis. Boy, were they wrong. Today the area produces some of Chile’s finest and most celebrated wines.
The cool climate wines of Chile are a contemporary discovery in comparison to it’s neighboring wine regions. Thanks to vintners like Luz Marin and many more, Chile’s cools climate wines are now some of the country’s most exciting.
Nov 20th - The Wines of Patagonia - Itata and Bio Bio Valleys
Although only recently rising to stardom, Itata is said to have planted its first vines in the mid 16th century, making it the first real viticulture region of Chile. Today, we can taste some 100 year old vines and older. Bio Bio is even further south is also making some incredibly interesting wines.
