What you'll learn in this martial arts class:

Draw your sword and face down your opponent, defeating their spirit before striking at their core. Kendo mean “the way of the sword.” Originally developed in Japan in the 15th century to train warriors, Kendo has gained worldwide popularity.

Modern kendo holds true to its traditional roots by teaching students to develop a strong spirit, healthy body, and sharp mind. Kendo has no physical limitations, and can be practiced by people of any age.

In beginner kendo, students will be introduced to reiho (basics), suburi (striking), kamae (stance), and suri-ashi (proper movement).

Note:
A uniform is not required for this class and new students may borrow school equipment. Three beginner classes are required before taking the intermediate level kendo classes.

You should study kendo if:
You are looking for a challenging, highly structured martial art with a long tradition. You want to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world through the path of the sword

You should try kendo if you like:
Samurai stories, Star Wars, Japanese culture, strict physical and mental discipline.
