Description

What you'll learn in this sauces class:

  • Cover the backbone sauces of many cuisines
  • Taste while you learn
  • Make a roux to thicken sauces or make Mac & Cheese!
  • Learn quick pan sauces that impress in a pinch!
In this class, our chef will help you unlock the secrets to sauce, which is the key to many great dishes. This interactive demo will cover everything from stock (the backbone of most sauces), to pan sauce, to bechamel. By the end of class, you will be familiar with terms such as "fond" (the flavor crystals left in the pan after searing meat) and "roux" (a versatile thickening component used in bechamel and cheese sauces). All basic ratios, ingredients, proper procedures and storage of sauces will be discussed.

Menu:
Light snacks will accompany the sauces.
Beverage:
Wine pairing provided by Vine Wine
Note:
This will be more of a heavy snack class, so you might want to go out for dinner after or grab a bite on the way to class.

Refund Policy

When you register for a class, you agree to these terms:

  • You may request to cancel your ticket for a full refund, up to 72 hours (3 days) before the date and time of the event. 
  • Cancellations between 25-72 hours before the event may be transferred to a different date/time of the same class. 
  • Cancellation requests made within 24 hours of the class date/time may not receive a refund nor a transfer.
  • Our classes are transferrable, so feel free to send a friend if you can’t make it!
  • In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

    Loved the course! It was a great, short intrduction to making stock from scratch, and basic sauces anyone can make. The class was more demo-style than hands-on, but the instructor was very engaging and let us see/smell everything along the way. Recipes to take home, and lots of ideas for taking your home cooking up a notch! Plus we got to taste all the delicious sauces made during the session for dinner (+ wine!) Yummm! I had an issue with registration, but both The Brooklyn Kitchen & CourseHorse were very helpful in sorting everything out. I took this course for work, but will definitely be returning to The Brooklyn Kitchen to take another class (and browse their wonderful store again! Taking a course there gets you 10% off in the store.) :)
