Established in 2003, the Bedford Cheese Shop has spent the last 10+ years building a neighborhood store that welcomes both new and familiar faces. Based on old-world ideals with a loyalty to our family of local and international food producers, we are a small, independently run business dedicated to the time honored traditions of the culinary and agricultural world. Appreciating the seasonality of cheese production, we work directly with farms in order to select cheeses at their perfect peak so as to provide a constantly evolving array of prime goodies. Committed to our small staff of knowledgeable cheesemongers, we guarantee experts in the field who are happy to teach through taste, and have been trained in the art of properly maintaining cheese so that you can be assured of receiving the highest-quality products available. In 2012, we opened our second location in the Gramercy area of lower Manhattan which includes a 15-foot cheese case, three aging facilities, and an education and event space - the Homestead. Great teacher who made learning fun. Add a fun group (many of whom were coworkers), wonderful cheese, and good wine. A wonderful way to spend an evening with friends. Making mozzarella is so much easier than I ever anticipated. And so yummy too!
This class was fantastic! Very informative and super fun! Zoe’s passion for cheese was infectious and she really took time to make sure everyone knew what they were doing and answer all questions. I would love to take another class with her at The Bedford Shop. Really well done overall!

Great cheese selection and a lovely evening. Really enjoyed the experience. This is my third class at Bedford Cheese Shop. If in doubt, you should attend.
The cheese turned out great and the tasting was an added bonus. Wish we had learned more about the first part of the process (making curd). I can understand why there may not be enough time but I would have liked to see that part of the cheese making too - starting from curds kind of felt like “cheating”.
The class was very laid back and I liked that a lot. There was a brief lesson and then we tasted everything, asking questions as we went. Our host was very knowledgeable! The scotch was good and the pours weren’t cheap. But the real star was the cheese plate - everything on there was so delicious!!

Really fun and educational. I learned a lot about cheese and my friend, who I gave this course to as a gift, had a great time as well.
The teacher is very knowledgeable and gave a lot of great background on the history of cheesemaking and the types of cheeses. This class is not great for those who actually like scotch - the ones selected for the class are very mild / low in quality. The cheese selection was interesting, but there needed to be just some fresh element (a vegetable, pickles, olives, fruit or anything) to help cut the richness. They only provide just some crackers and cheese. An okay class but not sure would recommend.
